Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE - The Beer City Tourists are making a return to McCormick Field for the third year in a row. For one night only, the Tourists will represent Beer City with customized jerseys, caps, and merchandise in one of Minor League Baseball's most unique promotions.

This year's Beer City Tourists night takes place at McCormick Field on Thursday, May 24 when the Tourists take on the Greenville Drive. McCormick Field is the home of the Original Thirsty Thursday, with the term first used by the Tourists in 1983 and trademarked with the US Patent and Trademark Office in 1995 by the team.

The Tourists customized Beer City jerseys are navy blue with "Beer City Tourists" printed across the chest in Jade. The state of North Carolina is represented behind the Beer City print with "Beer City" represented by a pint glass. The numbers on the backs of the jerseys are also Jade and the Original Thirsty Thursday logo is located on the left sleeve. The caps are navy blue with an indigo blue bill and have a pint glass logo on the front panel.

These unique jerseys will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the Erica Smith Memorial Fund to assist the surviving members of the Smith family after last month's tragic shooting in West Asheville. Erica Smith, her son Keithan Whitmire, and her daughter Harmony Smith were all killed. Three other children were injured in the shooting. Last season's auction raised over $3,600.

"We are excited to bring the Beer City Tourists back for a third straight year," said Tourists president Brian DeWine. "This promotion allows the Tourists to help out members of the community while also honoring Asheville's craft beer industry."

Bids for the Beer City Jerseys can be made online at TouristsAuctions.com from now until 11:59pm on Sunday, May 27. Additional Beer City merchandise is available at the Tourists Trap at McCormick Field or online at BeerCityTourists.com.
