Augusta GreenJackets News Release
North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, won 2-0 against the Charleston RiverDogs on Monday night.
In a surprise appearance, New York Yankees relief pitch Tommy Kahnle made a rehab stop in Augusta. That didn't scare the GreenJackets, as Orlando Garcia took the big leaguer deep to left field in the bottom of the second inning. The solo shot would give the GreenJackets a 1-0 lead.
The lead would stand until the bottom of the sixth inning when Manuel Geraldo knocked in Shane Matheny with an RBI single to put the GreenJackets up by two.
The lead would stand behind the dominate pitching of the GreenJackets. Starting pitcher Jose Marte went five innings only giving up one hit. He earned his fifth win of the season which ties him for most wins in the South Atlantic League.
Tyler Schimpf then came on in relief of Marte and went two innings, giving up no hits in his GreenJackets debut. Camilo Doval pitched a solid eighth inning, earning his fourth hold of the season. Then in the ninth inning, Frank Rubio came on for his ninth save of the season, which leads the South Atlantic League.
