Beef Take on the Storm

Omaha, NE-The Omaha Beef (3-0) of United Indoor Football (UIF) will take on another I-29 rival this week. Omaha, who began the season at I-29 foe Sioux City, will host the Sioux Falls Storm (3-0) on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.

The Beef are coming off an Easter Sunday win at Billings where they defeated the Outlaws 36-20 in front of a crowd of 2,406. Quarterback James McNear led the charge with 166 yards of total offense (75-rushing and 91-passing) and four total touchdowns (two each rushing and passing). The offense as a whole out-gained Billings 188-138 and scored four touchdowns. Defensively, James Johnson and Tito Hannah each had 5.5 tackles. The defense held the Outlaws to 23 yards rushing and gave up only 115 passing yards. They also sacked Billings quarterback Chris Dixon once, forced three fumbles, broke up six passes and even blocked a Greg Gundersen field goal.

So far on the season, the Beef rank in the top 5 in several of the UIF team categories.

5th in scoring offense, averaging 38 points a game

1st in scoring defense, allowing only 66 points in 3 games (22/game)

3rd in pass defense, allowing only 120.7 yards per game

3rd in kickoff returns, averaging 21.3 yards a return

5th in rushing offense, averaging 79.3 yards a game

1st in rushing defense, allowing only 20.7 yards a game

1st in total defense, allowing only 141.3 yards a game

tied-1st in sacks by, tallying eight in three games

2nd in field goals, scoring six in three games

1st in point-after-touchdown kicking, scoring 12 in three games

The Beef are also ranked in the top 5 in some of the UIF individual categories.

Lawrence Pullen sits 3rd in all purpose yardage, averaging 128.3 yards a game

Pullen also sits 1st in kick return average, tallying 25.6 yards a return

Ted Retzlaff is tied-2nd in scoring (kicking) with 30 points (12 PAT's, 6 FG's)

Retzlaff also is 2nd in field goal average per game (2/game) and in field goal percentage (46.7%)

Retzlaff is 1st in point-after-touchdown kicking percentage (92.3%)

James Johnson sits in fourth place in tackles per game with seven a game

Tito Hannah is 2nd with 4.5 sacks (1.5/game)

Hannah is also tied-3rd with five tackles for loss (1.67/game)

This weekend's match up with the Storm will be the teams' eighth match-up in the UIF with the Storm having won five of the previous seven games. The Storm have won 23 games in a row including the last two United Bowls.

General Manager Dustin Talacko looks forward to the game and urges to come out and support the Beef on Saturday.

"This game will be a huge catalyst for us. We have been building momentum the entire season and we are about a play or two away from hitting full stride. Sioux Falls always brings their "A" game and I expect one of the better ball games in Slaughterhouse history," say's General Manager Dustin Talacko.

After this game, the Beef will head to Fort Collins, CO, and take on the expansion Colorado Ice on April 21 at the Budweiser Events Center.
