
Beck RBI Hit and Solid Pitching Help Yard Goats to Victory

Portland, Maine- Outfielder Jordan Beck cracked a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning helping the Hartford Yard Goats to a 2-1 victory against the Portland Sea Dogs on Friday evening at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. Beck's run scoring single brought home Bladimir Restituyo to break a 1-1 tie. Hartford starter Carson Palmquist worked six solid innings, allowing just a run and had five strikeouts, and relievers Blake Goldsberry, Nick Kuzia and Fineas Del Bonta-Smith combined for three scoreless frames as the Yard Goats beat the Sea Dogs for the second straight game.
The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game in the second inning off Sea Dogs starter Sterling Sharp. Kyle Datres started the inning with a walk, and went on to steal second base. Warming Bernabel drove him in with a one-out single, giving Hartford a 1-0 lead.
The Sea Dogs tied the game with a run in the fourth inning off Yard Goats starter Carson Palmquist. Nathan Hickey led off the inning with a double and Blaze Jordan followed with an RBI single to make it 1-1. Palmquist retired seven of the final eight batters faced in six full innings. The lefty had five strikeouts and retired the side in order in the second and sixth innings. He departed with the game tied 1-1.
Hartford broke the tie with a run in the eighth inning off the Sea Dogs bullpen. Bladimir Restituyo reached on a fielding error and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, Jordan Beck smashed a hard single to right field, scoring Restituyo with the go-ahead run, giving the Yard Goats a 2-1 lead.
Yard Goats relievers Blake Goldsberry and Nick Kuzia each had a pair of strikeouts. Fineas Del Bonta-Smith fired a 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn the save.
The Yard Goats will continue their six-game road trip against the Boston Red Sox affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs, at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM. RHP Andrew Quezada will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Chih-Jung Liu will pitch for the Sea Dogs. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and on the iheart radio app.
