Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - Josh Satin muscled three hits for the second straight night, but New Hampshire's Chad Beck mystified Binghamton over seven, scoreless inning to drop the B-Mets 2-0 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium Friday night. Beck allowed just four hits and struck out six for his second straight win.
Robert Carson drew the start for Binghamton and was impressive through three innings. The southpaw allowed a baserunner with one out in the fourth when he hit Moises Sierra in the right knee with a slider. After Mike McDade flied out to center, Travis d'Arnaud doubled to the gap in left-center to score Sierra from first, pitting the Fisher Cats a 1-0 lead.
New Hampshire (9-5) added to its slim lead in the sixth courtesy of the long ball. Carson served up a fastball to McDade with the bases empty and one out. The Fisher Cats slugger sent it out of the yard to left-center for his first Double-A home run to double the lead to 2-0.
Carson departed to the loss after the six innings. The lefty allowed a pair of runs on five hits and struck out a season-high eight.
The B-Mets got a pair of runners on base in the eighth with one out against Yohan Pino, but failed to score. After Jesus Feliciano and Satin singled, Pino struck out Eric Campbell. Mike Hinckley relieved Pino and induced a flyout to center off the bat of Raul Reyes to silence the threat and maintain the shutout.
Alan Farina entered in the ninth for New Hampshire in search of his third save. Despite allowing a double to Mike Fisher and a walk to Allan Dykstra, Farina struck out the side to secure the Fisher Cats fourth straight win.
Binghamton (5-8) outhit New Hampshire 7-6 in the loss. In addition to Satin, Fisher had a multi-hit showing with a 2-for-4 night.
Binghamton looks to salvage the series in the finale Saturday afternoon at 1:35 PM. RHP Brandon Moore (0-0, 7.00) will start opposite RHP Joel Carreno (0-2, 8.49) of New Hampshire. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show begins at 1:20 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
