Beavers kick off eight-game homestand Monday against Tucson

PORTLAND, Ore. - After a difficult road trip, the Portland Beavers return to PGE Park for an eight-game homestand this Monday, featuring an appearance by Hall-of-Famer Jim Palmer and more great giveaways.

Highlighting the homestand is an appearance on June 15 by former Baltimore Orioles pitcher Jim Palmer. Palmer, the only pitcher to earn a World Series victory in three different decades, will be at PGE Park as part of "Strike Out High Cholesterol," a national cholesterol education campaign, courtesy of Merck/Schering-Plough and Men's Health Network. Palmer, who was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990, will sign autographs for the first 200 fans at the start of the game, throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and join play-by-play broadcaster Rich Burk on the game's radio broadcast on KKAD AM-1550.

Little League Weekend presented by Zenner's and Re/Max will be celebrated on Saturday, June 17, and Sunday, June18, featuring giveaways and an appearance by the Spitball Gang. Youth replica jerseys will be given to the first 1,500 kids 14 and under at both games, and a clown and a face painter will be roaming throughout the stadium on Saturday.

Bring your dad to the game on Sunday to celebrate Father's Day with the Beavers. One lucky dad will win a trip to a Mariners game and kids will be able to get autographs from some of their favorite Beavers before the game and run the bases after the game.

JOE'S BASEBALL BINGO NIGHT/COMCAST FAMILY NIGHT - Beavers vs. Tucson - 7:05 p.m. Come out to the ballpark for Comcast Family Night, featuring appearances by Nickelodeon's Arnold from Hey! Arnold and two Rugrats characters. It's Sports Radio 1080 The Fan Baseball Bingo Day presented by G.I. Joe's. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a free bingo card, with letters and numbers corresponding to specific plays that occur on the field. Follow the game closely to win great prizes.

Tuesday, June 13 TACO TUESDAY/COUNTRY NIGHT - Beavers vs. Tucson - 7:05 p.m. It's Taco Tuesday presented by 98/7 KUPL, with tacos available for just $1 at the concession stands. It's also country night at PGE Park, featuring country music, promotions and giveaways all night, courtesy of 98/7 KUPL. Gates open at 6 p.m. Fans are also invited to bring in canned food items as part of a food drive presented by the Beavers and KUPL.

Wednesday, June 14 ZENNER'S DOLLAR DOG WEDNESDAY - Beavers vs. Tucson - 7:05 p.m. Mix 107.5 presents Zenner's Dollar Dog Wednesday, where hot dogs are available for just $1. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Thursday, June 15 MILLER LITE THURSDAY/MERCK/SCHERING-PLOUGH PRESENTS JIM PALMER - Beavers vs. Tucson - 7:05 p.m. The popular Thursday night tradition returns with specials being offered for Miller Lite Thursday presented by Jammin' 95.5. Jim Palmer will also be on hand as part of "Strike Out High Cholesterol," a national cholesterol education campaign, courtesy of Merck/Schering-Plough and Men's Health Network. Friday, June 16 FAMILY FRIDAY/PRE-GAME ALL-FAITH CONCERT - Beavers vs. Fresno - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers host FOX 12 and PDX 49 Family Friday presented by Radio Disney. Clowns and face-painters will be roaming the concourse to entertain fans and several families will be selected to play catch on the field before the game. Gates will open 5:30 p.m. for a special pre-game all-faith concert, featuring a performance by Issakar from 5:45 - 6:15 p.m. in the Widmer Garden.

Saturday, June 17 FRED MEYER RETRO SATURDAY/LITTLE LEAGUE WEEKEND - Beavers vs. Fresno - 7:05 p.m. Every home Saturday this season, the Beavers will be wearing special throwback uniforms from the 1956 season for Fred Meyer Retro Saturdays presented by KGON 92.3. Each Saturday Beavers game, one lucky fan will win one of the throwback jerseys, and they will get to take the jersey home on the last Saturday, August 26. This Saturday is also part of Little League Weekend presented by Zenner's and Re/Max, featuring a youth replica jersey giveaway to the first 1,500 kids ages 14 and under and an appearance by the Spitball Gang.

Sunday, June 18 AMERICAN FAMILY INSURANCE KIDS SUNDAY/LITTLE LEAGUE WEEKEND/FATHER'S DAY- Beavers vs. Fresno - 2:05 p.m. As part of American Family Insurance Kids Sunday presented by Soft Rock K103, players will be in the Radio Disney Fun Zone before the game signing autographs and several kids will be selected to play catch on the field. All kids and dads are also invited to run the bases after the game. As part of Little League Weekend presented by Zenner's and Re/Max, the first 1,500 kids ages 14 and under will receive a free youth replica jersey. Ten dads will compete in a post-game hitting contest, and the lucky winner will receive a trip to a Mariners game.
