Beavers add Justin Germano to active roster

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers today added right-handed pitcher Justin Germano to the active roster. Germano was designated for assignment by the San Diego Padres on May 22.

Germano, 25, was 0-3 with 5.98 ERA (29er, 43.2ip) in 12 outings (6 starts) for the Padres this season.

Over parts of three seasons with the Beavers (2004-05; 2007), Germano is 20-11 with a 3.31 ERA and 218 strikeouts in 44 appearances (all starts). In terms of Portland career leaders since the team returned to the Pacific Coast League in 2001, Germano is tied for first in complete games (3) and tied for fourth in starts, ranks second in wins, third in strikeouts and ERA, and sixth in innings pitched (266.2).

Over parts of four major league seasons with San Diego (2004; 2007-08) and Cincinnati (2006), Germano is 8-16 with a 5.27 ERA, 119 strikeouts and 70 walks over 47 appearances (35 starts).

The Beavers' active roster is now at its 24-man limit plus two major league rehabilitation assignment players.
