Iowa Cubs News Release

Casey McGehee delivered a walk-off home run and the Iowa Cubs defeated the Memphis Redbirds 5-4 at Principal Park Thursday night.

Iowa rallied from a two-run deficit in the eighth inning when Jason Dubois delivered a two-run home run to make it a 4-4 game.

Iowa starter Kevin Hart did not factor in the decision but made his presence known in 6.1 innings. The right-hander allowed only two runs on four hits while striking out nine.

Working into the seventh inning for the first time this season, Hart was in line to pick up his second win of the season. After four shutout innings, Iowa took a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning when Luis Figueroa drove in Bobby Scales on an RBI groundout.

However, the Redbirds answered an inning later, on an RBI single by Cody Haerther to make it 1-1.

The I-Cubs reclaimed the lead in the bottom half of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Jason Dubois to make it 2-1.

Memphis took a 4-2 lead in their three-run seventh inning when Joe Mather provided the biggest blow with a two RBI double off Iowa reliever Andy Cavazos.

Newcomer Greg Reinhard (1-0) got the win for Iowa while Memphis' John Wasdin (4-6) was tagged with the loss.
