Brampton Beast News Release
BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - David Vallorani tied the game with less than a minute to play and Artur Tianulin scored the shootout winner, as the Brampton Beast came back and defeated the Worcester Railers 5-4 on Wednesday morning.
The Brampton Beast took on the Worcester Railers live from the CAA Centre on Wednesday morning. It was Brampton's second School Day game of the year, so the arena was packed with 5000 excited kids.
The Beast started the period off well with a goal on the power play from Jordan Henry. The elusive defenseman snuck down into dot and fired a bullet into the net behind Mitch Gilliam to make it 1-0 Brampton at 5:23.
The Railers fought back and a defensive breakdown led to a tie game at 6:29 courtesy of Ivan Korsorenkov.
The back and forth period continued as Jackson Leef lifted an absolute rocket past Gilliam to restore the Beast lead at 14:47.
Once again the Railers got it back, this time off the stick of Tyler Barnes. Worcester would add one more for good measure from Ryan MacKinnon and took a 3-2 lead into the first intermission. Shots on goal were 15-10 in favour of the visiting Railers.
The second period began and the Railers added to their lead. Tyler Barnes walked into the zone and sent a shot past Jake Paterson that gave Worcester a 4-2 lead at 5:04.
Brampton fought back and got within one, as Artur Tianulin found Daniel Ciampini all alone. A great shift of offensive zone time and cycling the puck lead to the Beast goal at 10:14.
Brampton went to their locker room down 4-3 after forty minutes and trailing in shots by a count of 25-17.
Brampton needed a big goal in the third and finally got one in the nick of time. David Vallorani tied it up 4-4 at 19:24 in a last ditch effort with the Brampton net empty. The ensuing overtime period solved nothing and the game needed a shootout.
In round three, it was Artur Tianulin who made a slick move and scored the winner as Brampton completed the comeback and took the contest 5-4 in the shootout.
Notes: Molson Three Stars 3) Vallorani (BRA) 2) Barnes (WOR) Tiaulin (BRA). Brampton finished the day one-for-six on the man advantage. Worcester was one-for-one. Brampton is in action this coming Saturday where they'll take on the Toledo Walleye.
