BOISE, Idaho - Shaun Cooper went 3-for-5 with four RBI, including the go-ahead RBI triple in the ninth inning, helping the Yakima Bears to a 10-8 victory over the Boise Hawks at Memorial Stadium.
After the Hawks Dong-Yub Kim hit a two-run in the eighth to tie the game at 8-8, Kevin Medrano singled with one out in the ninth, with Cooper gapping a ball to the right-center power alley to score the go-ahead run. Wagner Mateo followed with an RBI single for an insurance run.
Victor Capellan picked up his fourth win of the season for Yakima, despite giving up two runs on three hits. R.J. Hively retired the Hawks in order in the ninth for his fourth save in four opportunities.
Tied 2-2 in the third inning, the Bears would take the lead on a Cooper three-run homer, but the Hawks would chip away at the deficit, finally tying the game at 6-6 in the seventh on a Dan Vogelbach RBI double, followed by a Marco Hernandez RBI single.
Yakima would answer in the eighth with back-to-back two-out RBI singles from Mark Ginther and Mike Lang, to set up the long homer by Kim.
The Bears would have 16 hits in the win, with Medrano going 3-for-5, while Lang, Ginther, and Yogey Perez-Ramos each recording two hits. Vogelback went 3-for-5 for the Hawks in the loss, with Gioskar Amaya, Rock Shoulders, and Kim each logging two hits.
