July 25, 2012 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - Canadians RHP Taylor Cole dazzled over his six innings of work while RF Carlos Ramirez hit his first home run of the summer to help Vancouver to a 2-0 shutout victory over the Eugene Emeralds on Wednesday night out at Scotiabank Field.
Cole, 21, limited the Eugene offense to just three hits over his six innings dropping his ERA over 24 innings of work on the season to a miniscule 0.38. Vancouver got two scoreless innings from RHP Marcus Stroman and an inning from RHP Jon Lucas who grabbed his first professional save.
Offensively, the Canadians saw RF Carlos Ramirez hit his first home run in a Vancouver Canadians uniform off of Emeralds reliever RHP Justin Hancock in the bottom of the 5th inning. The solo home run gave Vancouver a 1-0 lead.
The C's would strike in the bottom of the 7th inning when 1B Art Charles would grab his first of two singles on the night. Charles would come around to score on a single off the bat of 2B Dan Arcila to give Vancouver the 2-0 shutout victory.
