
Beach Bums Fall Behind Early in Loss to Florence

FLORENCE, KY - The Traverse City Beach Bums(28-28) gave up three unearned runs in the first two innings, on their way to dropping a 6-1 decision to the Florence Freedom(28-28).
In the early going of tonight's action, a couple of errors gave the Beach Bums some fits, and Florence some runs. In the first, Skyler Ewing drove in a run on a groundout then Xavier Turner hit an RBI single. The following inning yielded a Harrison White RBI fielder's choice, giving Florence a 3-0 lead. With two outs in the third, Keivan Burges rocked a three run homer over the right field wall, doubling the Freedom advantage.
The Beach Bums were finally able to break through onto the scoreboard in the top of the ninth inning. Isaac Benard led off by reaching on an infield single then moved to second when Will Kengor walked. Two batters later, Alexis Rivera laced a double down the right field line, scoring Benard to make it 6-1 but the threat would end there.
Florence starter, Christian DeLeon, took a no-hitter into the sixth on his way to tonight's win. He gave up one hit and two walks while he struck out eight, improving his record to 4-2. John Havird suffered the loss, working through five innings, allow six runs, three earned, on five hits and three walks. He fallas to 3-5.
Friday night, the Beach Bums hit the road for the second half of their current six game trip, taking on the Gateway Grizzlies at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, IL. Getting the start for Gateway is Christian DeLeon and Reinaldo Lopez goes for the Beach Bums.
