
Slammers Bats Have Big Night, Sweep Rascals

Joliet, IL - The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy beat the River City Rascals 11-0 Thursday night to extend their win streak to six.
Danny Zardon started the scoring for the Slammers hitting a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first to make it 1-0. Chaz Meadows then hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 2-0 after the second.
The Slammers had a three run fifth inning with LJ Kalawaia hitting an RBI double and Danny Zardon hitting a sacrifice fly. Kalawaia then came around to score to make it 5-0.
Justin Garcia added a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 6-0.
Joliet concluded the night with a big bottom of the seventh inning in which five runs were scored for the Slammers to push the lead to 11-0.
The Slammers had another standout pitching performance as Corey Kimber threw seven scoreless innings in which he struck out three and got the win.
Tonight's Merchants and Manufacturers Bank Player of the Game is London Lindley who went 3-4 with three runs scored and two stolen bases.
Joliet is now in first place in the Frontier League East Division with a 33-24 record with a one game lead over the Washington Wild Things.
The Slammers are back home tomorrow and open up a series against the Florence Freedom at 7:05 p.m.
