Beach Bums Add Michigan's Roblin

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums today announced the signing of outfielder Brad Roblin, who played collegiately at the University of Michigan from 2004-2007.

A native of Wayland, Mass., Roblin made over 150 starts in his four-year career with the Wolverines and is fourth on the Michigan all-time list in stolen bases with 53. He hit a career best .320 this season for the Big Ten Champions and also hit a homer while knocking in 24 runs. He made 47 starts for the Wolverines. Roblin was second on the team with 22 stolen bases.

The Wolverines upset top-seeded Vanderbilt in the NCAA Regionals before falling to eventual national champion Oregon State in the NCAA Super Regionals this spring. Roblin recorded an RBI double in the Regional Championship game and recorded a hit in his final at bat with the Wolverines in the Super Regionals. Roblin was a teammate of current Beach Bums pitcher Phil Tognetti at Michigan in 2004 and 2005.

In other moves, Beach Bums' RHP Derek Bell announced his retirement from baseball. Bell pitched in three games for the Beach Bums after being signed on June 25. He did not have a record in 3.1 innings and walked four while striking out one.

Call the ticket office at 943-0100 to reserve your spot as the Beach Bums begin the second half with the first of 10 straight games at Wuerfel Park. LHP Ryan Gehring (2-5, 5.10) gets the ball for the Beach Bums in the opener while Slippery Rock will counter with RHP Nick Tracy (0-5, 4.88). Tim Calderwood will have the broadcast of the game on The Fox FM beginning at 6:45 pm with the Beach Bums On Deck Show.
