Gateway Grizzlies News Release
Friday the 13th proved to be very unlucky for the Gateway Grizzlies. The Windy City ThunderBolts snapped the Grizzlies 12-game winning streak with a 18-0 drubbing in front of 5,669 at GCS Ballpark.
Windy City (35-12) enacted some revenge on the Grizzlies who beat them 21-5 on Sunday afternoon.
The Grizzlies (36-11) managed just one hit off of Windy City pitchers Eric Fussell and Jordan Smolar. The duo faced just one batter over the minimum.
Ryan Salzgaber had the only hit for the Grizzlies. He led off the bottom of the first inning with a single, before being caught trying to steal second.
Grizzlies starter Jason Herman (1-1) allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits in just three innings. He struck out one and did not walk a hitter. Jeremy Dow allowed 11 earned runs on six hits over just 1.2 innings. He walked five and struck out one.
The Grizzlies and ThunderBolts will continue the series with a 7:05 p.m. game Saturday night at GCS Ballpark.
