
Baysox Snap Losing Streak

Harrisburg, PA - The Bowie Baysox (16-24) scored three early runs and then got a strong pitching performance from Zach Clark to beat the Harrisburg Senators (22-18) 9-3 and snap a six-game losing streak.
Zach Clark threw seven innings and allowed just one unearned run on four hits with one strikeout and three walks to earn his third win of the season. The game was also Clark's sixth consecutive quality start.
The Baysox got out to the early lead in the top of the first inning. With two outs, L.J. Hoes tripled and then Robbie Widlansky singled to give the Baysox a 1-0.
Zelous Wheeler added to the lead in the second inning when he hit his second home run of the season to extend the lead to 2-0.
In the third, the Baysox added another run. Hoes hit a two-out double and then for the second time in the game Widlansky knocked him in, doubling to right, to give the Baysox a 3-0 lead.
The Senators got on the board in the sixth inning. Manny Mayorson led off with a single. Then Jonathan Schoop made a throwing error on a ball hit by Jesus Valdez that allowed Mayorson to score to make the score 3-1.
The Baysox answered right back in the top of the seventh. Steven Bumbry hit a one-out double and Schoop reached on a wild pitch after striking out. With two outs, Widlansky knocked in his third run of the game with a single that scored Bumbry. Manny Machado then followed with a two-run triple to give the Baysox a 6-1.
In the eighth, Wheeler added another run with his second home run of the game. Then with one out and two runners in scoring position, Schoop grounded out to knock in the eighth run of the game and Ryan Tatusko balked in a run and it gave the Baysox a 9-1 lead.
The Senators got a two runs in the ninth on an RBI groundout by Beau Seabury and an RBI single by Chris McConnell to cap the scoring at 9-3.
Rob Gilliam got the loss going six innings and allowing three runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
RHP Tim Bascom (2-2, 4.87) will get the start tomorrow for the Baysox and the Senators will send former Baysox LHP Mike Ballard (1-2, 3.44) to the hill.
The Baysox return home on Monday, May 21 for an eight-game homestand against the Richmond Flying Squirrels and Altoona Curve. The homestand will include a Jake Arrieta bobblehead giveaway, fireworks, Mustache Mania and much more.
