Bowie, Md. - WWE Hall of Famer Bret "The Hitman" Hart was in attendance to see the Baysox (29-34) shut out the Portland Sea Dogs (27-37) 7-0 for their sixth consecutive win Wednesday evening.

The Baysox didn't have a lot of offense, but they took advantage of seven walks to get runners on base and across the plate, batting 4-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

"We took advantage of some walks to get an RBI sac fly and a base hit and then there was Robbie's [Widlansky] big blow," said Manager Gary Kendall. "When you have good pitching and you know you only need to score a couple runs to win, it's a big momentum changer to get those extra runs."

Baysox right-handed starting pitcher Zach Clark pitched seven shutout innings Wednesday in one of his best starts of the year. He allowed just two hits while striking out seven batters and walking four in the win.

"It felt good to throw to [catcher Brian] Ward," Clark said. "I threw to him two years ago and I liked throwing to him. This was the first time we have played together this year and we got on the same page right away. I had a couple bouts of wildness, but I figured it out and didn't let it hurt me."

After going hitless through the first two innings, the Baysox struck first in the bottom of the third inning against Portland starter Anthony Ranaudo. Catcher Brian Ward hit a lead off single to shortstop and second baseman Travis Adair reached on a throwing error after a sacrifice bunt. Ranaudo then issued three consecutive walks to Antoan Richardson, Buck Britton and Rhyne Hughes to allow two runs to score. Designated hitter Robbie Widlansky followed with a sacrifice fly to plate Richardson and shortstop Manny Machado singled to right field to score Britton and give the Baysox a 4-0 lead.

The Baysox extended their lead in the bottom of the seventh against Portland reliever Aaron Kurcz. Second baseman Travis Adair and right field Steven Bumbry drew back-to-back walks and a Richardson single loaded the bases. With two outs, Widlansky doubled to right field to clear the bases and give the Baysox a 7-0 lead.

Right-handed reliever Pat Egan pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the Baysox and Robert Hinton pitched the ninth to help the Baysox seal the win.

Ranaudo pitched three innings and allowed four runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out two batters and walking three in the loss.

The Baysox are home through Sunday, June 17 for a six game home stand. Some of the highlights include a 20th season logo pint glass giveaway presented by the City of Bowie Thursday, June 14, the Boy Scout Campout Friday, June 15 and Louie's Birthday Bash Saturday, June 16.

LHP Jake Pettit (3-0, 3.79) is scheduled to take the mound for the Baysox tomorrow in the final game of the three game series against the Portland Sea Dogs. He will be opposed by LHP Chris Hernandez (3-5, 2.88).
