Chesapeake Baysox News Release

Bowie, MD- Fans at Prince George's Stadium paid just nine cents per inning of baseball on Dollar Day, as Val Majewski singled home Gary Cates in the bottom of the tenth inning, as the Baysox came back from as many as four runs down to defeat the Trenton Thunder, 10-9 in Eastern League action.

Cates led off the bottom of the tenth inning with a single. Ed Rogers hit a bunt single to move Cates to second, before Majewski dropped a single in front of Kevin Thompson to drive in the game-winning run for the Baysox (40-38). Majewski finished the game 3-for-6 with a run scored and an RBI.

The Thunder never trailed the Baysox until after the final at bat, in a game that saw the Baysox come back and tie Trenton three times. Kris Wilken's RBI single tied the game in the eighth inning. Mike Huggins added four RBIs on a 2-for-4 night to help keep the Baysox in the game. Keith Reed and Brandon Fahey each had two hits for a Baysox offense that managed ten hits and four runs off the Thunder bullpen.

Rodney Ormond (1-0) pitched two-thirds of the tenth inning to earn the win for the Baysox. Jerry Spradlin and Craig House combined to pitch 3.1 scoreless innings leading up to the tenth.

Tim Adkins (0-4) took the loss giving up a run on three hits in the tenth inning for Trenton (37-39)

David Parrish, in his Trenton debut, went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.

GAME NOTES: Dave Trembley was ejected in the eighth inning after arguing a close call at first base that would have resulted in the game winning run for the Baysox...Walter Young was also tossed after comments made to the home plate umpire after he was hit in the helmet by a pitch. Originally the pitch was called a foul ball, but upon further review Kris Wilken, who replaced Young, was awarded first-base.
