Baysox Come from Behind to Take Series

Harrisburg, PA - The Bowie Baysox (9-14) rallied three times on Sunday afternoon to take down the Harrisburg Senators (14-9) 8-7 and win their first series of the year.

Robbie Widlansky had four hits and four runs batted in, including the go-ahead RBI to lead the way for the Baysox. The top six batters in the lineup all had double digit hits as the Baysox pounded out 16 hits in the game.

For the second straight game the Baysox struck first in the top of the first. Antoan Richardson led off with a walk and Jonathan Schoop singled to put runners at the corners. L.J. Hoes then grounded into a double play that allowed Richardson to score to give the Baysox a 1-0 lead.

The Senators took the lead in the second. Tim Pahuta led off with a double and went to third on a single by Jesus Valdez. Chris Rahl followed with a single to knock in Pahuta and even up the score. Devin Ivany then put down a bunt to move both runners into scoring position and Stephen King knocked them both in with a two-run single to make the score 3-1.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Baysox tied up the game. With one out Brandon Waring walked and Caleb Joseph singled. Widlansky then hit a double that scored both runners and tied up the game at 3-3.

The Senators took the lead right back in the bottom half of the inning. Valdez and Ivany both singles and then with two outs Jose Lozada was hit by a pitch. Eury Perez then knocked in Valdez and Ivany with a double to right to make the score 5-3.

In the fifth the Baysox answered back to even up the score. With one out Richardson and Jonathan Schoop hit back to back singles. L.J. Hoes then doubled to right to score both runners and make the score 5-5.

The Senators again answered back in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded and two outs in the inning, King hit a two-run single to put Harrisburg back out in front 7-5.

Widlansky led off the sixth with a solo home run, his second of the season, to get the Baysox back within a run.

In the seventh, the Baysox took the lead back. Hoes led off with a single and scored on a double by Waring. Then with one out in the inning Widlansky doubled to knock in Waring and give the Baysox an 8-7 lead.

Eddie Gamboa pitched 2.2 scoreless innings in relief to earn the victory.

Greg Burke pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his second save of the season.

The loss went to Ryan Tatusko who allowed two runs in 0.2 innings pitched.

The Baysox will begin a four-game series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels tomorrow evening at 6:35 p.m. LHP Cole McCurry (0-3, 5.30) will make the start against RHP Chris Heston (1-2, 1.13).

The Baysox return home on Friday, May 4 for a three-game homestand against the Akron Aeros that includes two fireworks nights.
