
Baysox and Senators Split Doubleheader

Harrisburg, PA - The Bowie Baysox (77-63) won game one on Saturday night with another big offensive output 8-5, but then were shutout by the Harrisburg Senators (63-77) in game two by a score of 4-0 to split the doubleheader.
The Baysox got out to the quick start in the top of the first inning. With no one out, they loaded up the bases for Rhyne Hughes, who hit his second grand slam of the season to give them the quick four-run lead. With one out, Caleb Joseph singled, stole second and then scored on an RBI single by Zelous Wheeler to give the Baysox a 5-0 lead.
Ty Kelly added to the lead in the second when he hit his first home run with the Baysox off the video board in right field to give the Baysox a 6-0 lead.
The Senators got on the board in the third inning. With runners at the corners and no outs, Brian Goodwin reached on a fielder's choice that knocked in the first run of the game. Then with two outs, Justin Bloxom singled to center to score Goodwin and cut the lead to 6-2.
In the fourth, the Baysox got a run back when Antoan Richardson walked and stole second then scored on an RBI single by Ty Kelly to make the score 7-2.
Sean Nicol knocked in a run with two outs for the second straight inning for the Senators in the bottom of the fourth when he hit an RBI double that made the score 7-3.
In the fifth inning the Senators cut the lead to 7-5 when the Baysox made two errors leading to an unearned run and Destin Hood hit an RBI single.
Zelous Wheeler gave the Baysox an insurance run in the seventh when he hit his 13th home run of the season to make the score 8-5.
Robert Hinton got the win going 1.2 scoreless, hitless innings with four strikeouts.
Tommy Hunter picked up the save striking out two in a scoreless seventh.
Chien-Ming Wang got the loss going two innings and allowing six runs on seven hits.
In game two, the Senators struck first in the bottom of the first inning. With two runners on, Hood hit a two-out RBI single that knocked in Anthony Rendon and made the score 1-0.
Jimmy Van Ostrand and Anthony Rendon hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning to extend to the Senators lead out to 4-0.
Ryan Tatusko got the win going five shutout innings while striking out five and walking two.
Andy Loomis got the loss going 2.1 innings and allowing four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
Tomorrow in game three the Baysox starter is again TBA and the Senators will be sending RHP Trevor Holder (3-3, 4.17) to the mound.
