November 5, 2012 - NBA G League (G League)
Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania, Monday, November 5 - The Erie BayHawks have completed two separate trades today with the Reno Bighorns and Sioux Falls Skyforce. Following the completion of both deals, Erie has acquired Keith Benson, Nick Covington and Demonte Harper.
The BayHawks originally dealt three players to the Reno Bighorns in exchange for Mike Davis and Harper. In return for Reno's first and second round picks from last Friday's draft, the BayHawks sent first round pick Jack McClinton and second round pick Alex Ruoff as well as veteran guard Garrett Temple to the Bighorns.
Erie then shipped Davis to the Sioux Falls Skyforce for center Keith Benson and guard Nick Covington.
Benson (6-11, 230) saw action in 20 games for the Skyforce last season, averaging 15.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Originally drafted in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft, Benson also spent time with the Golden State Warriors following his Gatorade Call-Up.
Covington (6-2, 200) averaged 7.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game last season with the Iowa Energy and Skyforce.
Harper (6-4, 195) played collegiately for Morehead State University. As a senior, Harper averaged 16.0 points per game and left the Eagles program as the 15th highest scorer and 4th best assist man in the school's history.
Temple played with Erie during the 2010-11 season prior to spending the majority of last season with various NBA teams.
Both of Erie's newly acquired players are expected to be in town for the start of Erie's training camp on Saturday.
