Mobile, Ala. - Jacksonville native Pete Clifford drove in four runs, including the game-tying and game-winning runs with a game-ending single in the ninth inning, leading the Mobile BayBears (29-20) to a 9-8 victory over the Jacksonville Suns (23-26) in front of 6,093 Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

The loss was Jacksonville's fifth in a row, while Mobile won a seventh consecutive game. The BayBears lead the season series against Jacksonville 8-1.

Mobile reliever Reid Mahon (2-0) picked up the victory, pitching two scoreless innings with one hit and two strikeouts. Jacksonville reliever Matt Peterson (1-1) picked up the loss and first blown save of the season, allowing the deciding runs in the ninth inning.

Suns starter Kyle Winters allowed five earned runs and seven hits over five innings with four walks and three strikeouts. BayBears starter Cody Evans gave up three runs and six hits over five innings. Neither starter factored in the decision.

The game featured five lead changes, with Jacksonville's largest lead of 8-5 coming after a five-run sixth inning. After a single run in the first inning, Mobile scored two runs in four different innings to complete the win.

Pete Clifford led the way for the BayBears, going three-for-five with four RBI. Sean Coughlin drove in three runs with two hits, Pedro Ciriaco added three hits at the top of the order and Southern League batting leader Cyle Hankerd (.367) walked four times.

Including six of the runs on Friday, Mobile has scored 19 of their 24 runs with two out during the current series.
