
Papelbon Moved Off Disabled List

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce this evening that Smokies pitcher Jeremy Papelbon has been activated off the disabled list and will start tonight for Tennessee in Game 2 against the Huntsville Stars. In a related move, pitcher David Cales has been sent down to the High-A Daytona Cubs.
In 13 relief appearances earlier this year for Tennessee, Papelbon posted a 0-3 record with a 5.14 ERA. He struck out 20 in 21 innings, allowing 12 earned runs on 31 hits and seven walks. Friday night's start will be his first of the season.
Cales appeared in nine games for the Smokies, posting a 10.50 ERA with no decisions. He allowed 20 hits in 12 innings of work, to go with 14 earned runs. He struck out 10 hitters in 12 innings.
