Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - The Rapid City Rush kicked-off a three-game series against the Evansville IceMen with a 4-0 victory Wednesday night. Danny Battochio turned aside 34 shots for his first shutout of the season and sixth of his career while Konrad Reeder netted a pair of goals, including the eventual game winner. Also of note, Jesse Schultz picked up a powerplay goal, pushing his point streak to 10 games and team captain Scott Wray collected an empty-net goal, his first tally of the season. The Rush face the IceMen again on Friday, November 25th at 7:05pm and Saturday, November 26th at 8:05pm. Tickets are still available for both games by calling 716-7825 or 24-hours a day at www.gotmine.com.

Through ten games this season, the IceMen had not trailed after the opening period. However, the Rush did just that, collecting the only goal of the opening frame. After an offensive zone takeaway, defenseman Michael Couch fired a shot that was stopped in the slot, but Konrad Reeder slid a backhander under the left pad of goaltender Pier-Olivier Pelletier. Rapid City was on top 1-0 after the first, marking the first time this season that the IceMen trailed heading into the first intermission.

The Rush powerplay was on display in the second period, converting on a two-man advantage at the 11:03 mark. Good patience by Les Reaney at the side of the net set up a back-door tap-in for Jesse Schultz who pushed his point streak to ten games.

Evansville held a 15-7 shot advantage in the third period, but it was the Rush who came away with the only two tallies. The first came at the 5:20 mark from Reeder who potted his second of the game on a strong individual effort that culminated in a shot to the short side, over the blocker of Pelletier. With Pelletier pulled for an extra attacker, the Rush sealed the 4-0 win with an empty-net goal from Scott Wray, his first goal of the season.

The Rush penalty kill was perfect on the night, stopping all four chances by the IceMen.

Rapid City dealt the IceMen their first road regulation loss of the season and just second overall.
