Brahmas Fall in OT
November 23, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (November 23) - The Brahmas came back from an early deficit to take the lead late in the game, but couldn't hold on as Arizona's Jeff Hazelwood scored the equalizer in the third period and the game-winner in the extra period to record a hat trick and give the Sundogs the 4-3 overtime win.
The Brahmas went down 2-0 after Hazelwood scored in the first period and Tyler Butler found the back of the net on a second period powerplay. But the Brahmas fought back and tied the score at two behind second period powerplay goals from alternate captains Andrew Lackner and Chad Woollard.
Calin Wild gave the Brahmas a 3-2 lead at the 2:37 mark of the third period, but Hazelwood was able to sneak one past Texas netminder Mark Guggenberger midway through the period to even the score once again.
The game went to overtime, and it was Jeff Hazelwood getting on the board again for the Sundogs with his third goal of the night and first game-winner of the season.
Guggenberger made 25 saves on 29 shots fired by the Sundogs, but Arizona goalie Levente Zsuper stopped 30 of 33 shots en route to his first win in three games against Texas.
The Brahmas look to get back on track Friday, November 25th at 7:30pm when they host the Laredo Bucks at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
