NORTH BAY, Ont. - Nick Paul proved his versatility yet again, capturing three honours when the North Bay Battalion's individual awards for the 2014-15 Ontario Hockey League season were announced Sunday.

Paul, who was named most outstanding player, won voting for the Don (Hockey) Hadley Memorial Award as the fans' favourite player and took the Jerry Callaghan Memorial Award as humanitarian of the year.

Paul, a resident of Mississauga who has played centre and left wing, turned 20 on Friday. He was a fifth-round choice of the Battalion, then based in Brampton, in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection after having been overlooked in his first year of eligibility.

Hadley, a veteran of the Second World War, was a longtime season ticket holder in Brampton, where the Battalion played its first 15 seasons, while Callaghan served in various capacities with the organization there.

Brenden Miller was named the Troops' defenceman of the year. The native of Orangeville, Ont., an eighth-round pick in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, turns 21 next Sunday.

Captain Marcus McIvor was selected the top overage player. Defenceman McIvor, a resident of Whitby, Ont., was the Battalion's first-round pick in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection.

Zach Poirier, a centre and right winger, was named rookie of the year. North Bay's first-round pick last April, the Toronto native and resident of Mountain, Ont., turns 17 on May 12.

Mike Amadio, who has played centre and right wing, was selected as the most sportsmanlike player. The Sault Ste. Marie resident, who turns 19 on May 13, was a second-round selection in 2012.

Brett McKenzie, who has played centre and left wing, was the scholastic player of the year. The Ottawa native, who turned 18 on March 12, was the Troops' first-round choice in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection.

Award winners were recognized before the Battalion's final regular-season game, against the Kingston Frontenacs.
