Belleville Bulls News Release

BELLEVILLE, ON - The Belleville Bulls hosted the Sudbury Wolves in the final regular season home game of the year on Saturday night at the Yardmen Arena. After allowing two early goals, the Bulls battled back to a 6-3 victory in front of a sell out crowd.

The Wolves opened up the scoring four minutes into the first period when Ivan Kashtanov buried his 6th of the campaign. Just under 30 seconds later, former Bull Chad Heffernan snapped one home and made it 2-0 Wolves. The Bulls stopped the bleeding 20 seconds later as forward Adam Laishram buried his 10th of the season from Michael Cramarossa and Brett Gustavsen.

In the dying minutes of period blue liner Justin Lemcke ripped a wrist shot past Samuel Tanguay on the power play. Rookies Brandon Saigeon and Matt Luff picked up helpers on the play. Belleville led 16-9 in shots after the first 20 minutes.

The Bulls kept the momentum rolling in the middle frame. Just under two minutes in, Welland, Ontario native Niki Petti potted his 18th of the season. Vancouver Canucks prospect Jordan Subban was credited with the assist on the play. Three minutes later Laishram netted his second of the game to give his club a two-goal lead.

Later in the period the Wolves cut the lead to one when Charley Graaskamp beat Charlie Graham for his 6th of the season. The Bulls continued to lead on the shot clock 37-24 after the second stanza.

Belleville sealed the deal in the third when left-winger Brett Gustavsen finished off a beautiful pass from Cramarossa on a two on one. Gustavsen, who was honored pre-game with his fellow over agers, put the nail in the coffin with an empty netter in the last minute of regulation.

Following the final buzzer, the team paid tribute to the historic franchise with an emotional video highlighting memories of 34 years in Belleville.

Graham made 21 saves in the win. The Bulls improve to 27-32-3-5 with the win.
