Bats Silenced as Milkmen Dispatch Dogs, 3-0

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Jake Dahlberg struck out eight and David Olmedo-Barrera extended his hitting streak to 23 games, but the Chicago Dogs could not muster enough offense as they fell to the Milwaukee Milkmen, 3-0, on Thursday night at Impact Field.

Dahlberg contributed a solid outing, allowing two earned runs on five hits over six innings. Tonight's start marked the fourth time this season the UIC alum struck out at least eight batters.

On the other side of the mound, the Dogs could not solve Milwaukee starter Angel Ventura, who surrendered only three hits while throwing only 67 pitches in his seven innings of work.

Milwaukee got on the board first when an errant throw by Gustavo Pierre allowed Garrett Copeland to advance to third on a ground ball. On the next at-bat, Manuel Boscan singled home Copeland to make it 1-0 in favor of the Milkmen.

The Milkmen added two more runs in the seventh, courtesy of a Jose Rosario home run.

Carlos Zambrano took over from there, hurling a shutout frame.

Ben Allison and Harrison Smith shut out the Milkmen over the final two innings, providing one last chance for the Dogs offense.

Jake Joyce came on and pitched a clean ninth inning to notch his first save of the season.

LHP Luke Westphal will get the call for the series finale tomorrow evening. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.
