Bats Hit 4 Home Runs in Loss to Tides, 11-5

NORFOLK, Va. - The Louisville Bats (23-33) were defeated by the Norkfolk Tides (24-30) by an 11-5 score at Harbor Park after a rain delay interrupted the game in the seventh inning. Aristides Aquino had his first multi-homer game of the season and the Bats' league-leading 14th as a team.
The Tides scored first with Ryan Mountcastle, who went 3-for-5 with three home runs, getting a solo shot to put Norfolk up 1-0 after the first. The Bats returned the run tying the game with Aquino getting his own solo home run in the top of the second.
In the bottom of the third Mountcastle hit his second home run of the game with a two-run shot. Joey Rickard doubled with two outs and a single from Christopher Bostick scored him. The two-out rally continued for Norfolk when Bostick scored on a left field single from Zach Vincej putting Norfolk up 5-1.
Phillip Ervin got his first hit of the game with a double in the top of the fourth. Aquino hit his second home run of the game with a two-run homer off the foul pole bringing the score to 5-3. In the next inning, Scott Schebler hit his first Louisville home run of the season to cut the Tides' lead to one.
After a Bats pitching change in the fifth, Vincej took Tristan Archer deep on his first pitch of the game. Norfolk extended their lead back to four after the three-run shot put them up 8-4. In the sixth, Norfolk added to their lead when Mountcastle got his second two-run homer of the game.
After an hour and seven-minute rain delay in Norfolk, the Tides added to their lead in the seventh. Anthony Santander hit a sac fly to left field with bases loaded putting Norfolk up 11-4. The Bats' added on their last run of the game with a solo shot from Ervin to make the score 11-5 to end the game.
In his debut for Louisville, Eric Stout (0-1, 11.57) started the game and got the loss, pitching 4.2 innings giving up seven runs on six hits, walking five and striking out three. Luis Ortiz (2-5, 7.09) got the win for the Tides pitching 6.0 innings allowing four runs on six hits and striking out eight.
Louisville comes home for game one of a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates' Triple-A affiliate, the Indianapolis Indians. First pitch is set for Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Field. It will be a righty matchup with Lucas Sims (3-0, 4.06) set to pitch for the Bats against Eduardo Vera (3-4, 6.41) for the Indians.
