Victoria HabourCats News Release
The Victoria HarbourCats, with new recruits awaiting the team in Victoria, sent a message about the offensive potential with a 17-hit, 17-run barrage in Longview, WA on Wednesday night, drubbing the Cowlitz Black Bears 17-6.
Kevin Collard was 3-3 with a grand slam and three runs scored, and PJ Floyd had a pair of two-run home runs for Victoria. Alex Rogers moved to 3-0 on the season with two unearned runs allowed in five innings pitched.
Floyd finished with five runs driven in, and catcher Jackson Thoreson was 2-3 with two runs and two driven in.
Sean O'Toole, Kyle Francis and Mikey Wright completed the game on the mound after Rogers was lifted.
The win came after a pair of 3-2 losses in which the HarbourCats could have come out on top with a couple of clutch hits. That was not a problem on Wednesday.
The HarbourCats have Thursday off before "Mr. HarbourCat", Alex DeGoti, makes his highly-anticipated return to Sports Traders Diamond at RAP on Friday night with the Black Bears providing the opposition on Galaxy Motors Forces Friday. (Saturday is Anawim House Sock Toss, and Sunday is Outlooks for Men Father's Day, www.harbourcats.com/tickets)
The HarbourCats will arrive to find 10 players able to bolster a team with a 5-7 record that has been riding the same horses for the early part of the season -- just 17 players were active for Wednesday's game. Key is the addition of three more pitchers, with more pitching signings imminent.
