The Bend Elks defeated the Klamath Falls gems by a score of 11-1 at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls Wednesday night. Elks starter Jordan Wilcox (1-1) took the mound for his third start of the season and threw a masterful game. Wilcox threw 6.1 innings giving up only 4 hits and a single earned run while striking out 8 Gems and walking only one. Reliever Mac Gaul (1-0) came in the 7th or his first appearance this season in relief. He faced 4 Gems not allowing any to reach base. Gaul recieved his first win for the Elks. Janson Junk came in the 9 the retired the gems 1,2,3, striking out two of the 3 Gems he faced to end the game.
The Elks bats came alive after taking the previous night off, blasting 15 hits off Gems pitching including 2 home runs, one each from West Tunnell and Cayder Grenier. Tyler Davis continues his hot hitting is is now bating .500 and leads the league in that catagory along with RBI's.
The rubber match of the 3 game series is scheduled for 6:35 PM Thursday at Kiger Stadium and can be followed and streamed at bendelks.com.
