Kelowna Falcons News Release
The Kelowna Falcons welcomed 5 new players to its lineup on Wednesday night, and finished with a 14-1 exhibition victory over the BCPBL's Okanagan Athletics.
THe Falcons scored in every inning except the 6th against the A's, pounding out 16 hits and taking advantage of 3 Okanagan errors.
JJ Muno would single and score in the first inning, as Max Carter and Joey Crunkilton also had big first inning hits that put the Falcons up 2-0. All 3 players were making their first appearance for the Falcons.
The Falcons cashed in 4 more in the 3rd inning, as Crunkilton picked up his 2nd RBI and Vinny Esposito drove in a pair.
In the 4th, the Falcons would score 6 times after back to back dropped flies in Right Field didn't allow the A's to get out of the inning. Muno had the dagger in his hands when he cleared the bases with a double, widening the lead to 13-1.
Wade Gulden had the RBI in the 6th inning, as the game ended after the top of the 7th due to a 10-run mercy rule.
On the mound for the Falcons, Aidan Kearney went 2 scoreless innings, while Michael Koval allowed the lone run but struck out 3. Jaramy Jacobs, Marcus Ethen, and Kyle Rasmussen closed the door for Kelowna, as they got their work in on what would have normally been a bullpen day.
The Falcons hit the road Friday for Yakima Valley, as they take on the Pippins Friday-Sunday. All games will be broadcast live at www.kelownafalcons.com with play by play from Kyle Anderson. First pitch is 7:05 Friday and Saturday, and 5:05 on Sunday.
On Monday, the Falcons return home to face the defending champion Bellingham Bells, with Wednesday nights contest being the annual Firefighter Burn Night Fundraiser.
