CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Despite a pair of RBI from Luis Basabe and a three-hit night from Trey Michalczewski,, the Birmingham Barons (19-29) fell to the Chattanooga Lookouts (25-22) by a 7-4 final Saturday night at AT&T Field.

Basabe, who recorded at least one RBI for the fifth consecutive game, helped the Barons erase a 3-1 deficit when he doubled home two runs in the fifth. However, Chattanooga responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning and one more in the sixth to pull ahead.

A two-run homer off the bat of Lookouts designated hitter Ibandel Isabel in the fifth represented the eventual game-winning hit. Isabel, who homered for the fifth consecutive contest, sits one game shy of tying the Southern League's all-time record for consecutive games with a home run (Derek Lee - 1996; Peter O'Brien 2018).

Birmingham jumped on the board in the opening frame when Michalczewski sent an RBI-double to right to score Luis Gonzalez. The 24-year-old utility man picked up his second double of the night to lead off the fourth, but was left stranded.

Blake Battenfield (L, 1-1) suffered the loss in his third start with the Barons since he earned a promotion from Class-A Advanced Winston-Salem on May 10. The right-hander surrendered five runs (all earned) on seven hits and struck out four in the loss.

Nate Nolan's two-out double in the eighth to score Michalczewski pulled the Barons within two at the time. However, they went quietly in the ninth to close it out.

Zack Burdi (1.0 IP) and Tanner Banks (2.0 IP) allowed one run apiece in relief appearances.

Birmingham and Chattanooga will conclude their five-game slate Sunday night as Barons left-hander Kodi Medeiros (0-6, 6.68) opposes Lookouts right-hander Tony Santillan (1-2, 3.50).

First pitch is set for 5:15 p.m. CT at AT&T Field and the game will be broadcast via JOX 2/3.
