Bartosak Makes 44 Saves; Rebels With A 2-1 Shootout Win Over Victoria

RED DEER, AB - Patrik Bartosak was the story Friday night at the ENMAX Centrium, he made 44 saves to backstop the Rebels to a 2-1 shootout win over the Victoria Royals.

The game was scoreless after the first period and scoreless after the second period. The Royals were outshooting the Rebels 31-21 after 40 minutes but Bartosak made many big saves.

In the third, the Royals got on the board first, Tim Traber connected for his fourth goal of the year at 4:28 of the final period in a scramble in front of the Rebels net.

The Rebels started to put on the pressure in the second half of the third period and tied the game with a power play goal by Mathew Dumba at 17:29.

The game went to overtime, where the Rebels were given a power play but could not solve Patrik Polivka, who was good in the Royals net all night.

In the shootout, Rhyse Dieno scored for Red Deer and Patrik Bartosak stopped all three Victoria shooters.

Final shots in the game were 45-38 for the Royals. The Rebels were 1 for 7 on the power play and killed all 4 shorthanded situations.

The Rebels host the Regina Pats 7:00PM Tuesday at the ENMAX Centrium.
