
Barrie, Harty Lead \'Tips Past Warriors

Everett, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips picked up a big 6-1 home victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday night, December 29th, at Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center. Shayne Barrie made his ninth appearance of the season and stopped 34 shots while defenseman and team captain Jonathan Harty led the offense with three points. The season record for the Silvertips is now 19-18-0-2 (40 pts.) placing them third in the U.S. Division and tied for fifth in the Western Conference.
Everett earned the game's opening goal while on their first power play at 9:20 of the first period. Jonathan Harty maneuvered his way to the left edge of the crease and Vitaly Karamnov executed a tape-to-tape pass. Harty finished the play by redirecting the puck up and over the shoulder of Moose Jaw goaltender Joey Perricone.
The game opened up offensively in the second period with a total of four goals being scored; three by the Silvertips. First, a Taylor Ellington shot made its way over the left shoulder of Perricone at 5:43. The Warriors responded with their goal coming from Jason Bast at 9:01. From there it was Clayton Bauer with his team leading sixth goal of the month at 10:36 and then Harty's second power play goal of the game at 12:59.
The final 20-minutes went scoreless until the latter stages but featured plenty of physical play both between and after the whistles. Everett capped off their incredible special teams night with a 5-on-3 Dane Crowley goal at 18:03 and on the ensuing man advantage Jordan Mistelbacher scored his first home ice goal of the season at 19:14. On the Crowley score, Kyle Beach's secondary assist gives him 108 career points breaking his tie with Shaun Heshka for fourth place on Everett's all-time scoring list.
The Silvertips will remain at Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center for their next two games. First, on Monday evening they will host the Kamloops Blazers for a New Year's Eve match-up with a special 6:05 p.m. scheduled start time. On Friday they begin a three-in-three weekend when the Chilliwack Bruins make their final visit of the season for a scheduled 7:35 p.m. puck drop.
