December 29, 2007 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release

Kris Lazaruk stopped 36 shots, including 15 in the first and 14 in the third, and led the Kootenay Ice to a 1-0 shutout win over the Chiefs in the Spokane Arena on Saturday night. Spokane earned a 5-2 win on Friday night in Cranbrook as the Chiefs and Ice split the home-and-home series.

Andrew Bailey scored the only goal of the game 5:12 of the second period as his shot from the right circle hit Kevin Armstrong before it banked into the net.

The Chiefs had a 7-2 power play advantage and outshot the Ice 36-20 and lost for just the fourth time in 30 games when they have had more shots than the opponent.

The Chiefs remain four points on top of the Tri-City Americans for first place in the U.S. Division as their rivals were 2-1 losers to the Portland Winter Hawks on Saturday night.

Spokane will travel to Kennewick on Monday night for their annual New Year's Eve date versus the Americans. It will be the first of three games in a two week span with Tri-City.

The Chiefs will return home next Friday night when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors on Let it Snow Night presented by the Water Stewardship Program and Spokane's River 99.9.

Tickets for all home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
