Sweden Stuns Canada

December 29, 2007 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Chilliwack Bruins News Release

Perdubice, Czech Republic - Team Sweden rallied from a two goal third period deficit before scoring a late goal to stun Team Canada 4-3 at the World Junior Hockey Championship. Trailing 2-0 early in the third period, Sweden erupted for three goals, the third by Chilliwack Bruins forward Oscar Moller, to take a 3-2 lead. Sweden then ran into some penalty trouble late in the period, with Canada's Claude Giroux scoring the tying marker for Canada on a two man advantage. Sweden then provided the stunner...a turnover at the Swedish blue line led to an odd man Team Sweden breakout, with Tobias Forsberg finishing a superb feed past Canadian Goaltender Jonathon Bernier with just 17 seconds left in the third.

Moller's goal capped a strong game for the Bruins sniper, who had numerous opportunities throughout the game and was one of the key players in a Team Sweden victory.

Sweden moves to 3-0 in Pool A and now will face Team Czech Republic in a potential first place showdown on New Year's Eve.

The Chilliwack Bruins play their second of two games tonight versus the Prince George Cougars in P.G. before heading home for a New Year's Eve showdown of their own against division rivals, the Kelowna Rockets...please note that game time for this New Year's Eve game is 7 p.m.
