WEEKEND RECAP: The Barrie Colts put together a pair of victories in two contests this past weekend to improve their overall record to 21-22-3-3 on the season with 48 points....Friday night they traveled to Tulio Arena in Erie, PA and were backed by a 38 save effort by Peter Di Salvo to capture a 3-1 victory....That was followed by a 47 save performance Saturday by Michael Hutchinson as the Colts defeated the Brampton Battalion 2-1 at the Molson Centre.....The victories extend the Colts' home record to 11-11-1-1, while their away record stands at 10-11-2-2
January 26 vs. BRAMPTON: Led by an outstanding 47 save effort by Michael Hutchinson and some opportunistic scoring by the line of McGillis, Marcinko and Hutchings, the Barrie Colts (21-22-3-3) gained a 2-1 victory over the Brampton Battalion Saturday night at the Barrie Molson Centre....Corey McGillis (14) and Alex Hutchings (20) each scored second period goals to put the Colts ahead 2-0, and Minesing native Graham McNabb closed the gap to 2-1 at the 19:07 mark of the second period....The Colts relied on stellar netminding from Hutchinson the rest of the way....The 17-year old Barrie native made 15 saves in the third period including an impact save off a partial breakaway by Battalion forward Matt Duchene in the final minute of the game....The victory improves Hutchinson's overall record to 7-8-2-2 on the season, and strengthens his save percentage to .914.....Hutchings, Marcinko and Della Rovere added assists on the Barrie goals

January 25 @ ERIE: The Barrie Colts broke a lengthy regulation winless streak Friday night at Tulio arena as they skated to a 3-1 final decision against the Erie Otters......The Colts extended their lead to 3-0 with a Stefan Della Rovere (8) powerplay goal at the 2:29 mark of the third....They defeated the Otters to move to 46 points on the season, and they are currently two back of the Mississauga Majors for third place in the Central Division....Niagara retains second with 53 points....The Colts jumped out to a 1-0 first period lead on Ryan Berard's tenth of the season, and that was followed up by Alex Hutchings' team leading 19th of the season at the 13:41 mark of the second period....The Colts were outshot by the Otters 39-19, as goaltender Peter Di Salvo was remarkable for a second straight start as he kicked aside 39 Otters shots

WHAT'S ON TAP: The Colts have two games on the slate for this week beginning Thursday at the Molson Centre (7:30 p.m.) when they face off against the Otters for the second time in less than a week....The Colts skated away with a 3-1 victory Friday in Erie, and look to capture another win against an Otters team that has struggled on the road this season, with a 1-22-2-1 overall record....The Colts close off the weekend Saturday with their third consecutive home game; this time they entertain the Peterborough Petes....It will be the Colts and Petes' final of four regular season meetings in 2007-08...The Petes lead the series having gained five of a possible six points with two home victories and a shootout loss at the Molson Centre......Colts fans will have a chance to see a potential top-five pick in the 2008 NHL Draft in Petes defenseman Zach Bogosian....Bogosian, a Massena, NY native, joins Niagara Ice Dogs defenseman Alex Pietrangleo as the top ranked rearguards from the OHL

ROSTER UPDATE: Colts forward Daniel Michalsky is the lone player on the injured list, as he is still listed as week-to-week with an elbow injury.....Colton Kennedy entered the lineup Friday and played both games over the weekend after sitting out more than one month with a broken thumb.....Brett Halstead missed both games over the weekend with flu-like symptoms, but is expected to return to practice this week
PRACTICE SCHEDULE: The Colts practice this week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at the Molson Centre (3:15 - 4:45) in preparation for games Thursday at home to Erie and Saturday at home to the Petes
SPECIAL TEAMS OUTLOOK: Barrie's powerplay is currently 16th overall in the OHL with an efficiency rate of 17.2% with 48 goals on 279 man-advantage opportunities....On the other side, the penalty-kill ranks seventh overall at 82.2% having killed off 226 of the 275 shorthanded situations they have faced
GOALS FOR AND AGAINST: The Colts have scored 136 goals and have allowed 160, placing them in 17th and tied for 10th respectively throughout the OHL in these categories
MAGIC BETWEEN THE PIPES: Young goaltenders Peter Di Salvo and Michael Hutchinson have been scintillating in goal for the Colts, specifically the Colts' last four games where they have split duties....During this stretch, Di Salvo stopped 49 of 51 in Kitchener and 38 of 39 in Erie, while Hutchinson turned away 52 of 55 against Saginaw and 47 of 48 to Brampton.....They have combined for a .964 save percentage in these games, as Hutchinson stands at .961 and Di Salvo at .967.....On the season, Di Salvo's save percentage currently stands at .918, while Hutchinson is at .914
