Barrie Colts News Release
The Barrie Colts wrapped up the weekend earning all four points and done so in dramatic fashion by winning both road games in overtime.
The Colts travelled to Oshawa on Friday night for their first matchup of the season against the Generals.
Evan Vierling opened the scoring on a breakaway 5:45 into the first period while Oskar Olausson doubled down on the lead by registering his 8th goal of the season. Brandt Clarke found the score sheet again to extend his goal-scoring streak to four games. Cooper Matthews cashed in on the pass from Beau Jelsma for the Colts' 4th goal of the game. Oshawa went on to tie the game and forced overtime. Olausson didn't take long to end the game when he broke in on a 2-v-1 on a pass from Nathan Allensen. Olausson ripped it over the Generals goaltender blocker to give the Colts a 5-4 victory and team-leading 9th goal.
With an off-day on Saturday, five members of the Colts headed to Horseshoe Valley Resort to participate in Roger's Hometown Hockey festivities. Nathan Allensen, Ethan Cardwell, Hunter Haight, Beau Jelsma, and Oskar Olausson greeted fans with an autograph signing and finished the day in a ball hockey game with the next generation of Barrie Colts.
With a quick trip to Hamilton to finish the weekend, the Colts were looking to rebound from their last visit to the FirstOntario Centre which saw the Bulldogs win it in overtime.
Brandt Clarke got the Colts on the board with his fifth goal of the season and extended his OHL Career-high five-game goal-scoring streak dating back to 10/28/2021 vs SBY. Nicholas Porco scored the Colts second goal of the game with Beau Jelsma scoring in the third period to extend his point streak to four games dating back to 10/29/2021 at MISS. Once again the Colts headed to OT and didn't take long to win. On a feed from Evan Vierling, defenceman Nathan Allensen blasted it past the Bulldogs netminder for his second goal of the year with both being GWG.
The Colts hit the road on Friday with a road game in Niagara and are back home on Saturday evening at 7:30 when they face off against the PeterboroughPetes (click here for tickets)
