Barrie Colts Announce Details For Teddy Bear Toss
February 17, 2009 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Barrie Colts News Release
The Barrie Colts announced today the details for this year's Teddy Bear Toss brought to you by Travelodge Hotels, which will be held on Saturday, February 28th versus the Sudbury Wolves.
Travelodge Hotels will have two booths set up in the concourse of the Barrie Molson Centre selling bears for five dollars with all the proceeds going to the Royal Victoria Hospital. Fans may bring their own bears into the arena, but are encouraged to make donations to the RVH.
Upon the Colts first goal of the game fans can throw their Teddy Bears on to the ice in a ritual that has become very popular in Barrie the past few seasons. If the first goal comes with under three minutes to go in the period, the remaining time will be added on to the next period as the bears are removed from the ice.
Travelodge mascot SleepyBear along with the best mascot in the Ontario Hockey League CharlieHorse will both be in attendance for this great event.
This game marks the final meeting of the season for division rivals Barrie and Sudbury, both of whom are in the middle of a very tight battle for playoff positioning. The colts have already won four of six meetings with the Wolves this season.
Come on out and support the Barrie Colts, Travelodge Hotels and of course the Royal Victoria Hospital on Saturday, February 28th for the Barrie Colts Teddy Bear Toss.
