Birmingham Barons News Release

HOOVER, AL - The Birmingham Barons and Jacksonville Suns game that was washed out in the bottom of the fourth inning on Friday, April 23 will resume on Friday, June 18 when the Suns return to Regions Park. The resumption of the suspended game will be a nine-inning affair with the originally scheduled game commencing approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of the suspended contest. The originally scheduled game will be only seven innings.

The game will resume in the bottom of the fourth inning with Brent Morel standing at second base and Christian Marrero in the batters box with two outs. Morel had just a two-out double before the rain and lightning made the playing conditions too dangerous to continue. The umpires ultimately suspended the game after a lengthy delay. The Barons were trailing 1-0 at the time.

The gates for the June 18th contest will open at 4:30 PM, and the first 1,000 adults to enter the stadium will receive a Gordon Beckham bobblehead doll, compliments of Auto-Owners Insurance. The weekly Friday Night Fireworks show will take place following the second game.

Fans who attended the April 23rd game can exchange their ticket stubs for a ticket to any future Barons game. They must take their ticket stub to the Joe Drake Ticket Office at Regions Park and exchange the ticket in person. Fans are guaranteed the same type of seat with their rain check ticket, but not the exact seat.

The Barons return to Regions Park on Thursday, April 29 for the start of a five-game set against the Huntsville Stars. Thursday night's contest will feature a Thirsty Thursday promotion with a special Country and Camo theme. Tickets to that game or any of the remaining 60 Barons home games in 2010 are available online, over the phone or by visiting the Joe Drake Ticket Office at Regions Park.
