Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City - Oklahoma City Barons defenseman Brett Clark was released from his American Hockey League contract, General Manager Bill Scott announced today.
Clark, a 6-0, 185-pounder from Wapella, Saskatchewan signed with the Barons January 21. He appeared in 18 games with the Barons, scored 17 points (1-16-17) and was +7.
"When Brett chose to sign in Oklahoma City we agreed that if he was to receive a NHL offer that he felt was worth pursuing we would release him from his contract," said Scott. "Brett has been in the NHL for many years and continued to play at that level this season with the Barons. He was a positive influence on and off the ice for our team. He has earned this opportunity and we wish him much success. We remain focused on moving forward toward our ultimate goal of capturing the Calder Cup."
Last season, he skated with the Tampa Bay Lightning where he played in all 82 games, scoring 17 points (2-15-17). Drafted in the 6th round (154th overall) by the Montreal Canadiens, Clark has played 681 games in the NHL with Montreal, Atlanta, Colorado and Tampa Bay scoring 185 points (45-140-185).
The Barons skate tonight in San Antonio against the Rampage at 7 p.m. The game can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
