Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City - Oklahoma City Barons goaltender Yann Danis was named an American Hockey League First Team All Star, the league's front office announced today.
Danis, a 6-0, 185-pounder from Lafontaine, Quebec has been a stalwart in net for the Barons during the 2011-12 campaign. Through 40 games this season, he has a 25-12-2 record, 2.11 goals against average, .924 save percentage and five shutouts. Those totals put him in the top six in each of those categories in the league. Danis was named to the Western Conference AHL All Star Team earlier this season.
This marks the second consecutive season that a member of the Barons was named a First Team AHL All Star. Alex Giroux was an AHL First Team AHL All Star during the 2010-11 season. The AHL First and Second All Star Teams are decided by a league-wide vote from the players, media and coaches.
The Barons schedule includes home games Friday and Saturday. Friday, the Barons tangle with the Peoria Rivermen, AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues. Saturday, the Chicago Wolves, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, visit Oklahoma City. All three games start at 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center. Both games can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
