Iowa Barnstormers News Release

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Barnstormers are proud to announce that eight crew members of Cramer & Associates Construction will be their special guests this Saturday night, July 25. Iowa State Senator Larry Noble will be in attendance and will issue a proclamation to the crew for their heroic efforts in a special pre-game ceremony. The ceremony will be held on Wellmark Field prior to the Iowa Barnstormers regular season finale versus the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz.

The eight individuals will be honored for their heroic efforts to pull Pleasant Hill resident Patricia Ralph-Neely from the raging waters of the Des Moines River after her boat capsized on Tuesday, July 1st. Ironically, the rescue took place just hundreds of feet away from Wells Fargo Arena, home of the Barnstormers.

The crew of Cramer & Associates were working on the still under construction pedestrian bridge that is being built across the Des Moines River when they noticed a capsized boat and Neely floating in the water. The crew acted quickly, ultimately lowering an employee by crane to reach Neely. After several close attempts, employee Jason Oglesbee was able to latch onto Neely and bring her safely to shore. The event was captured on television and witnessed live by hundreds.

"After seeing these men band together to help save the life of a complete stranger, we felt that their heroic efforts should no go unnoticed. Honoring them at the game as our special guests was the least we could do", stated Barnstormers Owner Jeff Lamberti. Kick off for Saturday night's game is 7:05pm.
