Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (7-8) maintained their #13 ranking in the final af2 Coaches Poll after having the week off. The Dawgz are coming of a loss to the tenth ranked Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings (10-5) and looking to rebound in the regular season finale against the #5 ranked Iowa Barnstormers (11-4) in Des Moines. Iowa has defeated the top-ranked Spokane Shock and #3 Tulsa Talons this season at home and will prove to be great road test for the Dawgz as they enter the playoffs.
The Dawgz are locked in as the seventh seed in the National Conference and barring a Tulsa loss combined with an Arkansas win, will travel to Tulsa to take on their archrivals in the first round of the playoffs. The game is set for Saturday, August 1. A win in the first round would advance the Dawgz to the second round of the postseason for the first time in franchise history.
In preparation for the playoffs, the Dawgz brought in new talent to challenge for roster spots as well as rest some of their core players. The Dawgz were recently assigned Fullback/Linebacker Jonnathan Lee and Linemen Juan Garnier, Jarvis DeVaugh, and Chris Tucker. The hostile environment at Iowa will give the newcomers an excellent proving ground if they hope to impress the Yard Dawgz coaching staff.
