Lancaster Stormers News Release

Fortunately for Lancaster, it did not matter.

York banged out 19 hits on Sunday evening en route to a 15-2 triumph over the Lancaster Barnstormers as both teams closed out the first half of the schedule.

Lancaster had already clinched the first half title on Saturday, securing a berth in the post-season. York remained tied with Southern Maryland for the best record among non-winners at 36-27.

Vince Harrison's three-run homer to right center in the second inning started the onslaught. The Revs added one more in the third as Val Majewski tripled to right center with one out and scored on a single just to the left of shortstop Ozzie Chavez.

Any chance for a Barnstormers comeback was taken care of in the top of the fifth. Two singles and a hit batter loaded the bases, and Liu Rodriguez brought home a pair with a single to center. Cesar Carrillo (2-6) fanned Octavio Martinez for the second out, but Scott Grimes grounded a single through the left side to deliver two more for an 8-0 lead. Ramon Castro, the second batter to face lefty Kris Regas, pounded a three-run homer to right center, extending the lead to 11.

Majewski finished the evening with four hits while Harrison drove in four and Rodriguez three. Brandon Jones slammed a two-run homer in the sixth for the only Lancaster runs.

Chris Cody (7-4) worked six innings, allowing eight hits but no walks, to earn the win.

Lancaster will resume play on Friday evening with the Bridgeport Bluefish in town for a 7:00 start. The game will be aired on Fox Sports Radio, 1490, WLPA and streamed live on sportsjuice.com and ibnsports.com.

NOTES: Adam Calderone went 2-for-4 to extend a hitting streak to six games...York won for the fifth time in nine tries against Lancaster this season...The Barnstormers deactivated Fernando Seguignol and reactivated Sam Wiley for the game...Lancaster also rested everyday players J.C. Holt, Iggy Suarez and Aaron Herr.
