Bluefish Hand Warriors Defeat

Bridgeport, Conn. - The Bridgeport Bluefish (31-31) defeated the Road Warriors (22-39) 2-1 in a Sunday matinee at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Paul Oseguera (6-2) was strong for Bridgeport as he tossed six and one-third innings. The Bluefish southpaw allowed one run in picking up the victory. Esteban Yan completed the seventh, Antonio Alfonseca tossed a perfect eighth and Juan Rincon notched his tenth save with Bridgeport; the closer did not allow a run in the ninth.

Luke Massetti (5-6) suffered the loss. The Road Warriors righthanded starter surrendered two runs in four-and-two-thirds frames. The bullpen did not give up a run the rest of the way.

Luis Lopez did not have a hit in the contest and remains 21 shy of 2,000 in his minor league career.

Bridgeport scored runs in consecutive innings to give the home team the lead. In the fourth, Wes Bankston smacked his 13th homer of the season. The shot to left provided the Bluefish with a 1-0 advantage. Colin Roberson followed in the fifth with a solo shot to right. His sixth homer of the season extended the lead to two runs.

The Road Warriors scored a run in the seventh and had runners at first and second with two; but Yan induced a ground ball to second to end the threat.

The Bluefish finish the first-half against the Road Warriors on Monday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05. The gates open one hour before first pitch. Kids Eat Free Monday's are presented by Friendly's.
