
Banuelos, Leslie Added to Thunder Roster

(TRENTON, NJ) The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announce that LHP Manny Banuelos and C Myron Leslie have been added to the roster from the Temporary Inactive List. Banuelos will make his first start of the 2011 season for the Thunder in Monday's game as the team visits the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) at 6:00 PM.
Banuelos begins the 2011 campaign as the number four-ranked prospect in the New York Yankees system according to
Baseball America . The 20-year old lefty from Monterrey, Mexico, made ten starts for the Advanced-A Tampa Yankees, compiling a record of 0-3 with a 2.32 earned run average. Banuelos was promoted to Trenton on August 23 and made three regular season starts for the Thunder (0-1, 3.52 ERA). In Game 3 of the 2010 Eastern League Eastern Division Series, Banuelos dominated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (7.0 IP, 5 H, 0 ER) as the Thunder clinched a spot in the Eastern League Championship Series.
Myron Leslie completes the Thunder catching tandem along with Austin Romine. The Florida-native was originally an eighth round selection by Oakland in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft and was signed by the Yankees as a Minor League free agent on March 2, 2010.
In corresponding moves, the Thunder have placed LHP Wilkins Arias on the disabled list and OF Damon Sublett on the disabled list, retroactive to April 7, 2011.
The Thunder continue their season-opening, seven-game road trip Monday at 6:00 PM from Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine, before returing home Thursday, April 14th for Opening Day festivities at Waterfront Park. The seven-game homestand with the Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals) and Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants) kicks-off Thursday at 7:05 PM.
