
'Wolves Down B-Mets 7-3 on Buck Night

The SeaWolves snapped a two-game skid on Monday night at Jerry Uht Park as they took game one of a three-game series with the Binghamton Mets 7-3.
The âWolves broke through first in the bottom of the third against Binghamton starter Brandon Moore. Audy Ciriaco led off, walked and moved to second on a balk. Ciriaco came home to score on a Deik Scram single when the ball went through the legs of left fielder Brahaim Maldonado. The error gave Erie a 1-0 lead.
Erie starter Mark Sorensen tossed three scoreless innings before the Mets struck back in the top of the fourth. With two outs, Eric Campbell singled and Maldonado followed with a two-run blast to make it 2-1 Mets.
A home run by Kai Gronauer in the top of the fifth gave Binghamton a 3-1 edge.
Erie came right back in the bottom of the fifth. Deik Scram led off with his second hit of the game, a double. Jamie Johnson then connected on a one-out double, scoring Scram, cutting the Binghamton lead down to a run at 3-2. With two outs, Bryan Pounds singled home Johnson, tying the game at 3-3.
The score remain tied until the bottom of the seventh when the âWolves got to the B-Mets bullpen. Johnson led off the inning with a walk and moved over to third on a Michael Bertram base hit. Pounds doubled home Johnson giving Erie a 4-3 lead and putting runners on second and third. Francisco Martinez singled home Bertram for a 5-3 advantage. Pounds then scored on a wild pitch while Martinez scored on a Ciriaco single for a 7-3 lead.
The Erie bullpen shut down the Mets as Austin Wood and Chance Ruffin combined to work four innings of one-hit, scoreless ball. Wood (1-0) earned the win working three hitless innings with six strikeouts.
The âWolves will take on the Mets in game two of the three-game series on Tuesday night at Jerry Uht Park...6:35 First Pitch.
