McDade Extends Hit Streak To Five Games In Loss

(Manchester, NH)---Mike McDade extended his season-opening hit streak to five games with a seventh inning single and Adam Calderone followed with a triple to produce a run, but the Fisher Cats fell to Reading 13-1 Monday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Reading (3-2) pounced on Fisher Cats starter Joel Carreno early. 2010 Eastern League All-Star Matt Rizzotti (3-for-3, HR, 4 R) led off the second with a solo home run to make it 1-0. Cody Overbeck (5-for-5, HR, 3 RBI) followed with a double, Michael Spidale singled and Carlos Rivero walked to load the bases. Derrick Mitchell then hit a grand slam to make it 5-0.

The Phillies extended the lead in the top of third inning, loading the bases ahead of a Rivero single to make it 6-0. They added three more on an Overbeck home run in the sixth inning and plated another three in the seventh inning in rolling to the win.

Carreno (0-1) lasted only 4.2 innings in his first start in the Eastern League, allowing nine hits and six runs. The R-Phils pounded 18 hits in the contest.

New Hampshire (3-2) managed just four hits in the game against Reading starter and winner J.C. Ramirez (1-0), who went the first seven innings. He walked one, but did not record a strikeout.

Jonathan Diaz doubled and walked twice in three plate appearances for the Fisher Cats.

The series continues on Tuesday night at 6:35pm at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. RHP Zach Stewart (0-1, 6.75) starts for New Hampshire against Reading RHP Josh Zied (0-1, 7.20).
